The Overlocker Buster May 2024

£75.00
sold out

Have you been hovering on the fence about asking for an overlocker for Christmas or your birthday? Maybe you have one and you’ve been too scared to get going with it or disaster struck when you did dare to have a go and it needs rethreading so you’ve shoved it back under the stairs to stop it looking at you accusingly every time you sit down to sew.

If so, The Overlocker Buster is for you! Over two sessions we’ll cover all the technical nitty gritty that goes along with overlocking; including general settings, threading, tension setting, differential feed and troubleshooting- none of it is as scary as you think I promise! We’ll then get on to the really fun part and use the overlocker to make a jumper using Tilly and the Buttons’ Billie Sweatshirt pattern. You’ll get to keep your own copy of the pattern so, after the course, you’ll be able to make sweatshirts to your heart’s content!

FABRIC - You can decide to provide your own fabric (so you can pick a print and a colour that you’ll love) or have fabric provided by me (for an extra cost of £35).

If you would like me to provide fabric just pop the fabric listing in your basket.

If you are providing your own fabric please check out the recommendations and the size chart in the pictures (we will be making version 1 in the workshop) so you can make sure you have the correct amount. Please note you will also need to get cuffing along with your main fabric.

If you need any help choosing material you can always drop me an email and I’ll be happy to help!

DATES AND TIMES - The 2 week course will run on Friday mornings from 10am to 1pm with session 1 on Friday 17th May and session 2 on Friday 24th May.

SKILL LEVEL - Beginners

OVERLOCKERS - You can choose to bring your own machine to learn on or have a go on one of mine. Each overlocker has subtle differences and learning on your own machine means you will build confidence using it and learn how to adjust its settings for different makes and purposes, so if you have one I’d recommend this option. If you are thinking about investing in an overlocker or just want to try one out for size I have 2 machines which can be used for the sessions, just select the option to borrow one at checkout.

WHERE’S IT AT - Workshops are held in my studio at Shed 11, Unit 2, Murray Rd, Greystones, S11 7GH. Spaces are limited to 4 to ensure you get individual attention, time to ask questions and any help and support you need during the class (and the halftime biscuits go further!).
