In this Sheffield-based four week sewing class we will cover a range of skills including:

  • Measuring and sizing the pattern

  • Cutting out the pattern and fabric creating and understanding notches and other markings

  • Using stabilising stitches and facings to create the rounded neckline

  • finishing seam allowances

  • Creating cuffed sleeves

  • Adding patch pockets

The best bit is you will get your own copy of the Tilly and the Buttons pattern and instruction booklet to keep so that you can make it over and over again.

DATES AND TIMES - The course will run on Tuesday evenings from 7pm til 9.30pm starting on Tuesday 9th July and ending on Tuesday 30th July.

You can decide to provide your own fabric at no extra cost or I can provide it for you for an extra cost of £25. All other materials required for the dress are provided.

If you would like me to provide fabric just pop the Fabric Add On listing in your basket and I’ll have it ready for you at the start of your workshop.

If you are providing your own fabric please check out the recommendations below and the size chart in the pictures so you can make sure you have the correct amount. Don’t forget to get some matching thread as part of the pattern calls for visible stitches.

SKILL LEVEL - Beginners

WHERE’S IT AT - Workshops are held in my studio at Shed 11, Unit 2, Murray Rd, Greystones, S11 7GH. Spaces are limited to 4 for each weekend workshop to ensure you get individual attention, time to ask questions and any help and support you need during the class (and the halftime biscuits go further!).

Each sewing machine has subtle differences and learning on your own machine means you will build confidence using your machine and learn how to adjust its settings for different makes and purposes. Don’t worry if you don’t have or can’t bring your own machine as I have some available for people to use during the workshops.
