Bags Galore - The Rucksack Edition July 2025!

£96.00
sold out

Sheffield Sewing Workshop- Bags Galore - The Rucksack Edition

In this special edition of Bags Galore we’re focussing on sewing a fully-lined roll top rucksack. Over the course of two sessions, you'll be guided step by step through the process of making a backpack that’s not just useful, but really lovely to look at too!

The rucksack includes details like:

  • A roll top opening with a zipped closure

  • Adjustable straps

  • A handle for easy carrying

  • A front zipped pocket

  • An internal patch pocket

  • Boxed corners for shape and structure

We’ll be using heavier fabrics and structured interfacing to give the bag durability and form. Along the way, you'll learn how to:

  • Add zipped pockets and a zipped closure

  • Box out corners

  • Construct adjustable straps

  • Assemble a fully-lined bag

This workshop is ideal if you’ve made a few things before and want to build on your skills with support and encouragement. You don’t need to be an expert, just happy to give things a go. All materials are included, and you'll leave with a finished rucksack that’s ready for everyday adventures.

SKILL LEVEL - Confident Beginner

TIMES AND DATES - The times and dates of the sessions are:

Session 1 - Thursday 3rd July - 6pm til 9pm

Session 2 - Thursday 10th July - 6pm til 9pm

SEWING MACHINES - Bring your own machine! Each sewing machine has subtle differences and learning on your own machine means you will build confidence using your machine and learn how to adjust its settings for different makes and purposes. Don’t worry if you don’t have or can’t bring your own machine, I have machines available for people to use during the workshops. Just select the option to borrow one at checkout.

WHERE’S IT AT - Workshops are held in my studio at Shed 11, Unit 2, Murray Road, Greystones, S11 7GH. Spaces are limited to 6 for each workshop to ensure you get individual attention, time to ask questions and any help and support you need during the class (and the halftime biscuits go further!).
