Well, that would be fantastic! I’ve popped together some handy bits below to (hopefully) make life a bit easier for you.

And if you need anything else, just drop me a line at helen@badgerandbobbins.co.uk — always happy to help if I can.

Bio

Helen Miller is a dedicated sewing teacher who aims to make learning to sewing as enjoyable, fun and straightforward as possible! Helen is passionate about both the political dimensions of sewing and its power as a meditative tool and form of selfcare. She loves exploring the role sewing has had throughout history in activism, sustainability and resistance and the way it has been affected as a practical skill and art-form due to social and political change.

Through her teaching, Helen’s mission is to empower her students with the skills to sew their own creations, using sewing as a tool for self-expression and to enhance their lives. She believes that the feeling of achievement you get through creative endeavours helps with mental wellbeing and achieving a sense of calm and control.

Helen is on a mission to teach as many people as possible the skills to sew their own creations and how they can use sewing as a form of protest. She has recently launched an online course helping students to master the art of sewing wherever they are in the world.

Helen has spoken at events such as the knitting and stitching show in Harrogate and at a local weavers guild on her passion project ‘Pockets and The Patriarchy’ A history of the development of pockets in women's clothing and how it has been affected by political and social change.
